Offline Processing

Data Connection and Offline Processing

NMR data obtained from the MR-DD2 400 MHz and the Propulse 500 MHz on campus are stored as "studies" in a directory "/data", located in the home directory ("UCM400" or "UCM500" respectively) and studies are stored in subdirectories under faculty name and operator name. A PDF containing the processed spectrum is provided automatically to a user’s designated email address. A user may email additional plots using the Preview button on the plot page. Full datasets for offline programs can be sent by email using the "email study" button at the top of the screen. The /data directory can be accessed from ones own PC with a standard sFTP connection, using a program such as Filezilla. The Avance III 600 MHz supports sFTP for offline processing from ones group user. Contact Dave Rice for all the appropriate logins and passwords.

Many users purchase a copy of Mnova from MestreLabs Inc. to process and archive their spectra offline on a Windows or OSX computer. Also, a copy of the Agilent instrument software, OpenVnmrJ, can be made available free of charge to be installed on a PC if desired. OpenVnmrJ runs directly on a Mac with OSX or it can be run virtually on Mac or Windows using a program such as VMWare or Parallels.

We also encourage faculty and students to sign up for free access to NMRbox, a cloud-based environment for NMR processing that is provided by the NIH. NMRbox includes a free version of the popular Mnova as well as many programs for biomolecular NMR, including NMRPipe. Contact Dave Rice for advice about offline programs.
