NMR Tubes

Standard-grade and high-grade NMR tubes are specified by field strength, 400 MHz, 500 MHz, 600 MHz, etc. These tubes are required for very high resolution measurements and variable temperature.  They cost aboit $10.00-$20.00 dollars and up. Low-quality or so-called "high-throughput" tubes at about $2.00 each will provide poorer resolution and sensitivity, but often they are adequate for routine work. NMR tubes must be at least 7 inches in length and 8 inches is recommended for the Carousel robot of the MRDD2 400.

Major manufacturers of NMR tubes are Wilmad Glass, Norell Inc. and New Era Enterprises. Supply houses each sell one or more of these brands. Shigemi Inc. manufactures specialty "susceptibility matched" tubes for biological NMR.
